Fan pages of Marriott

It is important to learn about the place you are going to stay at before the trip. Therefore, today I am going to talk about non-official pages where you can find information about Marriot Hotel in Toronto.
First one is a famous booking.com. Here, you can try to find best rates and special deals for the booking of the room in Marriott. Next one is Travelocity.ca. It is a platform for reviews about different places. There you can find hotel details and description of facilities. Also, you can different reviews directly from clients. Marriott vs Novotel on Youtube

There is no secret that YouTube is one of the most popular social media websites and it is important for the big and small companies to stay active on it.
We are going to take a look at two Youtube accounts: Marriott and Novotel hotels.
Marriott has 8k followers, Novotel Hotels has a 761. As I can see both of the accounts are not really active, they have post one time per 2 month in average. 
Marriott posts promotional videos as well as different tutorials on easy booking; they also have some kind of cartoon about the holiday in their resort, which can be interesting to take a look at free time.
Novotel has different content: the observing videos of different resorts of Novotel, where you can see the room, lobby and different facilities. It is very useful for people who value comfort and feel more comfortable when they know where are they going and how it looks; they also have supporting videos for different incidents such as terror attack in Paris. It makes them look social involved.
Novotel does not have a lot of description of videos. It makes it hard to find on google if you don’t know the title.
However, Marriott leaves all the links for social media in description box and also uses keywords such as Marriott Resorts and Marriott Rewards.
The most successful video of Marriott is called Marriott Rewards sends 50 to Super Bowl 50 #50to50. It has 2,387,805 of views, 578 likes, 2 dislikes, 73 comments. It had such a success because it was a partnership with SuperBowl.



The most successful video of Novotel has 335 views, 2 likes and 0 comments.

Marriott Resorts and Novotel on Instagram

Few years ago Instagram has become a new social media platform and with no time people started to make it one of the popular social websites.
Today we are going to take a look at two instagram accounts : @marriottintl and @novotelnorthamerica.
Marriott has 25.8k of followers, at the same time Novotel has just 787 followers. Marriott does not have any special schedule for the content on Instagram; it can be posted once/twice per week in average. Novotel is posting their content once per week.
Marriott`s posts are photos from different places, where there are Marriott Resorts hotels. It may seems boring, however, they are trying to interact with people asking different questions.
Novotel is using different technique to interact with consumers and followers. Their content is photos made by clients and customers. It is nice for almost every person to be posted by some company, especially as big as Novotel.
Novotel is using the same hashtag as in Twitter : #NewNovotel. Also, depending on the place where picture was taken, they are using local hashtags such as #toronto #novotelmississauga etc.
Marriott`s hashtags are the name of the places their hotels are located such as #bahamas #thailand. It may not be the most successful technique because when you click on such a common hashtags there are a lot of different pictures and it is hard to find the one you actually need.
Lets take a look at the popular posts.
Marriott has a photo of the Marriott Resort in Bahamas  and it has 1009 likes, and a lot of comments. It has such a success because there is a contest happening with #weddingwire hashtag. It is a giveaway to win a honeymoon there.
The most successful post of Novotel has 75 likes and it is photo from the Torontoblog profile. It does not have much hashtags; and it has just one comment.

I think, that Marriott is more successful on the Instagram, due to their popularity and also they are trying to advertise their account with different contests.

Marriott vs Novotel on Twitter

Today we are going to talk about another popular social media platform Twitter.
We are going to look at 2 accounts: Novotel and Marriott International.
Both of the profiles post their information 3-4 times per day. As you know, one of the important things is to follow 50/50 rules. Marriott and Novotel are successful at it; they keep their profiles interesting by providing information that may be interesting for followers, but not directly related to the brand name.
Novotel came up with their own hashtags #NovotelKnows  and #NewNovotel. It helps with categorizing information. Novotel Knows category is about tourism related information, not the hotel. New novotel is about the Novotel hotel chain.
Marriott uses #overheardinmarriott, which is basically information about the hotel and # itpaystobookdirect which is different ways of getting lowest rates in Marriott. Also, Marriott is using situational hashtags such as #Pieday and #WorldsMostEthicalCompanies, it helps to make socialization and not to frame themselves in usual hashtags.
Lets take a look at numbers:
Marriott has 408k followers.
Novotel has 1,827 followers.
Now,we will take a look at the most successful posts.

As we can see, Marriott is doing more successfully comparing to Novotel. However, I think, that the reason is people awareness about Marriott, not the content. Also, big influencer is target market. So, it may depends on different psychological and behavioural factors.

Novotel VS Marriott Resorts on Facebook

It is important to be active on social media websites for different industries nowadays.
Today we will be looking at Novotel Canada facebook page and Marriott Resorts.
Mariott resorts are posting their information in average 1 time per 2-3 days, they don’t have any particular schedule for it.  On the other hand, Novotel keeps their posts coming out everyday.
Marriott Resorts page has different kinds of information that can be interested for their target market: views of the cities , where they have their resorts;  news related with tourism industry; and news related to the Marriott.
Novotel posts different deals in their chain of hotels; material that can motivate people to travel and stay at their hotel; views of the different places; and of course they share news that can be related to industry or Novotel hotel chain.
Marriott uses more the sharing function other than posting their own content, therefore the main keyword is Marriott.
Novotel uses such keywords as travel, Novotel, hotel, resorts, vacation.

As we can see Marriott has a more successful life at Facebook. Of course, it depends on the quantity of followers, which Marriott has more than Novotel. However, I think , that one of the main factors of Marriott`s success is that they are posting a content that can be interesting for any person on Facebook: different articles about industry or people. That makes followers to share this content with their friends.
